Straight Talk: Homosexuality

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

In the mid 90’s, a Presbyterian minister named Steve Brown conducted an interview with the lesbian Pastor from the largest Gay Church in America. Steve had already laid the ground rules for their dialogue regarding the expected, conservative, fundamentalist stance on homosexuality. Essentially, he agreed not to state the obvious and refused to “go there.” Instead, Steve displayed one of the most loving, concerned examples of a Christian that I’ve ever seen as he interviewed this woman. In so doing, I heard her say, softly and sincerely, that gay people sin just as any other Christians sin. She explained that when a person becomes convicted of their sins, godly sorrow leads to repentence from those sins. She admitted that, as a Christian homosexual herself, she simply has not been convicted…condemned, yes, by other believers…but not convicted by the Holy Spirit. Steve replied, “You realize you sound somewhat like a heretic in the gay community by saying these things….” She nodded, “Well, it’s the truth.”

The presentation was so touching, so inspirational, that the station later re-ran the program by popular demand. Brown had remained aware throughout the interview that although the apostle Peter told us, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have,” he also said, “But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).

Was this woman speaking for all homosexuals everywhere? Doubtful. No more than yours truly speaks for everyone presently reading this article. The point is, just as this lesbian minister alluded, how many of us are knowlingly, secretly, doing that which is sinful, yet we persist? We may even pray fervently, quietly, that God would help us. I’ve been there. Especially in matters of forgiveness, knowing what was required of me but wanting to have a few moments alone in which to hate somebody’s guts.

Is homosexuality a sin? According to Scripture, I believe it’s very clear that it is. As I read Genesis 19:4-5; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; I Corinthians 6:9-10; I Timothy 1:9-10, it seems clear. Lest we forget, homosexuality is no worse a sin than over-eating, hatred, gossip, doubt, unbelief, rage, rebellion and theft. My own sins are no worse and, as result of the Cross of Christ, are forgiven and forgotten forever. Because His mercy is new every morning, we literally have no past every day! That’s great news! The best news is that this forgiveness and mercy is available to ALL. Now THAT is the loving, hope-filled message that Christians should be sharing with those trapped in gay lifestyles. Not to mention those trapped in adultery, substance abuse, unforgiveness or any other sin. Rather than pointing the unfeeling finger of accusation, we must ask ourselves if we qualify for throwing out that first stone.

Do we care? I was preaching one Sunday years ago and announced that I was considering placing a banner on the street that said, “This Sunday is Gay Day!” A hush came over the group. Some nervously laughed. Very telling. On the love-meter, I’m afraid we weren’t where I thought we were as a group.

Too often, as a whole, the Body of Christ seems more concerned with outward appearances than we are with the bondages an individual may be saddled with. We go through our spiritual check-lists: Was he baptized? Does he attend church? Is he regularly in Sunday School? We may never know what another person is struggling with deep inside - and we won’t, as long as we continue in our prescribed methods of what we typicaly refer to as “ministry.” Homosexuality, a life as an abused child, addiction to everything from porn to pot, thoughts of suicide…any one we know may be wrestling with these issues. Too often, we settle for church attendance as our gauge of how well an individual is doing. We’re so impressed by outward appearances, aren’t we? In contrast, God looks at the heart (I Samuel 16:7).

But I digress.

Tolerance at all costs!

Tolerance has become the sole absolute of our society, the queen mother of all social values. Kids are hearing it preached every day in Secular Indoctrination Centers (excuse me…Public Schools) and in the media. Unbeknowst to most Christians, tolerance is a threat to our very faith.

Some might say that tolerance merely means to recognize and respect all beliefs, practices, and so forth regardless of whether we agree with them or not. After all, we all have a right to our own opinion, right?

Today, tolerance means to consider every individual’s beliefs, values, lifestyle and claims about truth as being equally valid. So, not only do we have equal rights to our own beliefs - which we DO - but these days, all beliefs are being seen as equal. It’s no longer enough to merely respect another person’s rights; we’re expected to endorse their beliefs, values and lifestyles as well.

That is, of course, unless those beliefs are Christian in nature. Then it’s open season.

When one openly discusses the diety of Christ, His sinless lifestyle, His resurrection, how He is the ONLY way to salvation, people get up in arms. We hear such things as, “How dare you say that?” Wearing a T-Shirt that reads “Jesus is Lord” is to imply that no one else CAN be and it makes people mad. As Christian speaker Josh McDowell states, “The issue is no longer the truth of the message, but the right to proclaim it. In the new cultural climate, any unpopular message can be labeled “intolerant” and therefore be repressed.”

Former President Bill Clinton linked so-called “hate crimes” to intolerance when he was in office and said, “The No. 1 security threat to [our nation] is the persistence of old, even primitive hatreds.” Since when does intolerance equal hatred? It does in today’s version of tolerance. Where homosexuality is concerned, the Bible, fundamentalist, conservative Christians and Jesus Himself are taking quite a beating. Across the globe, more and more nations are embracing the gay agenda.

Tolerance at all costs? Romans 6:23 says, “…the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” William Barclay paraphrases the verse in this way, “If we got the pay we had earned it would be death; but out of His grace God has given us life.” The word “wages” (opsonia) in the original Greek language means, “provision money,” or supplies paid to an army. The soldiers earned their wages and were paid in daily provisions of food. Sin pays wages in full, without any deductions.

Another Greek word we should learn is metanoia, or “Repent.” It literally means “to change one’s mind.”

It’s not too late. But just as the “straight” Christian world is loaded with sins of its own, we must remain cognizant of the fact that there are people out there who love the Lord despite being gay. We, too, may be in need of repentance, i.e., changing our minds, too. All Christians must teach new disciples, as well as our own children, to embrace all people, but notALL their beliefs. We can listen and learn from everyone without necessarily agreeing with them. We can courageously but humbly speak the truth, even if it makes us the object of scorn. Jesus said all men would hate us because of Him. Make certain that, if anyone hates you, it’s ONLy because of Jesus and NOt because you hate them, too.

Legal Gay Marriage around the World:

Belgium: Legalized gay marriage in 2002.

Britain: Plans to introduce legislation soon authorizing civil unions giving gay couples legal recognition with most of the rights enjoyed by married partners.

Canada: Legalized gay marriage July 2005.

Denmark: The first country to legalize same-sex unions in 1989, later giving couples adoption rights. Other Nordic countries followed in 1990s.

France: Allows civil unions since 2000.

Germany: Introduced civil unions in 2001.

The Netherlands: Became the first country to legalize gay marriages outright in 2001.

Portugal: Lesbian and gay couples who live together acquire the same rights as heterosexuals in common-law marriages.

Spain: Gay marriages made legal, June 2005.

South Africa: Recognized gay rights in its constitution after apartheid ended in 1994. Activists are preparing litigation to have the common law definition of marriage extended to include same-sex couples.

Switzerland: Its largest city, Zurich, started recognizing registered gay couples in July 2005. Geneva also recognizes same-sex couples, although grants them fewer rights.

In the United States, Massachusetts is the only state that allows gay marriages; Vermont and Connecticut have approved same-sex civil unions. California is feeling the pressure.

In Jim Nelson Black’s book “When Nations Die,” as he describes the fall of all the world’s great empires, he writes, “Sexual promiscuity led to the downfall of these nations….” Although he also mentions that homosexuality was prevelant within each fallen empire, so was immorality among those we would refer to as being “straight.” Abortion, infanticide and strangulation of children were commonplace in these “advanced” cultures as unwanted children were seen as a burden in an atmosphere of hedonism.

The shedding of innocent blood really does bring a curse upon the land. It wasn’t just homosexuality that caused each empire’s demise. It was the perverse hedonism of those who were straight and “normal,” too.

What God requires of us

Do we stop speaking the Truth? No, not when Jesus said, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’” (John 8:31,32). That Truth is Jesus Himself for he declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me,”(John 14:6). He was either a liar, a lunatic or He really was - and IS -Lord of all things.

But when we speak the truth, let us be sure that we are speaking the truth in love for, as the Bible says in Ephesians 4:15, by doing so, we will “grow up into Christ.” Lord knows we could use some growing up. Do we love those who say they are gay? If you were/are gay, would you/do you love those Christians who are straight whose lifestyles are loaded with sin?

One final thought regarding the Tolerance vs. Love issue. Josh McDowell says:

“Tolerance says, “You must approve of what I do.” Love responds, “I must do something harder; I will love you, even when your behavior offends me.”

Tolerance says, “You must agree with me.” Love responds, “I must do something harder; I will tell you the truth, because I am convinced ‘the truth will set you free.’ “

Tolerance says, “You must allow me to have my way.” Love responds, “I must do something harder; I will plead with you to follow the right way, because I believe you are worth the risk.”

Tolerance seeks to be inoffensive; love takes risks.

Tolerance glorifies division; love seeks unity.

Tolerance costs nothing; love costs everything.

Jesus is proof of that.

Can Society Live By The Bible Today?

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

That Holy Book, called the Bible, is the only Book like it. While many know that it is a holy Book, they do not know exactly what the Bible is, or why it was given. Once those two thoughts can be understood, then we will be able to answer the above question satisfactorily.

In an effort to be able to answer both at the same time, this outline should help to answer the question, Is the Bible something we can use to live by? To this question, the only reasonable answer is a definite Yes.

1. Yes, Because Its Author Is Divine

The Scriptures declare themselves to be of God. In II Timothy 3:16 the Bible tells us “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” This word “inspiration” does not refer to the type of inspiration a poet, or a writer gets today. No, this was a special thing. It referred to the fact that “God-breathed” out the Scriptures from Himself. That is actually the Greek meaning of the word. In other words, the idea is that God so directed that “men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (II Peter 1:21), with the result that the words of the written Bible were inerrant (incapable of any error).

In applying this truth a little further, it can be seen that God was able to produce an infallible Book because He is Himself infallible. He also knows all things (omniscient), and He knows what we will need to live for Him.

2. Yes, Because He Has Given Believers His Spirit

This here is a point that needs to be very seriously considered. It is the dividing line between who can follow the teachings of the Bible, and who cannot. Having religion is not enough, and having the Ten Commandments is not enough to please God. He requires that we be made new by His Spirit - new, in the sense that our old way of life, and thoughts, are forsaken, and He moves in after baptism - and forgives the past transgressions, and His presence transforms the believer. Apart from this transformation that He makes in us, there can be no salvation. Christ died to bring us forgiveness, and redemption, and a new life - a life through the Spirit of God, and of His Son is us. His Spirit enables the believer to do what he could not do before.

3. Yes, Because It Covers All The Bases

Should the believer today live by the Bible? Yes, and he can, because God knew everything that he would ever face - through all the ages of the earth. The Bible was given, first to point mankind to the Savior, Christ, and then so “that the man of God may be perfect (mature), throughly furnished unto all good works” - this comes right after the above verse on inspiration. It is a Book that perfects the believer, and makes him so that God might be able to bless the life.

4. Yes, Because It Brings Blessing From Him

What a joy the believer has who seeks to be guided by the Bible! They are specially blessed by God Himself. In Psalm 1, the Bible tells us that, if a believer will walk different from those around him, and according to the Bible, that God will bless him - and he will be happy (not necessarily trouble free). In fact, the promise goes, if that believer will stay in the Bible, and daily think on its teachings with the intent to live by them, then God will bless them. His blessing will be compared to making them “like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” (Psalm 1:1-3).

5. Yes, Because It Prepares Us To Meet Him

My final point is this, that the Bible should be followed because He gave it to prepare us. In the Bible we read of His love, and of His Sacrifice that Christ paid for us to be able to live with Him one day. Apart from some necessary do’s and don’ts, the Bible is basically a letter of love - to the believer. When a believer follows the Bible, then the Spirit can guide him better, and give that person a greater joy and peace. Trouble comes so often for the believer - because we are not following Him. Obedience strengthens our relationship with Him. When a person loves God with all their heart, it is never an issue because then we will understand that all He wants us to do is because of love, and it will enable us to draw closer to Him in love. Following Him prepares us to live apart from sin, and in a sinless environment - Heaven itself.

David declared the condition of the believer who follows the Word carefully: “Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart” (Psalm 119:2).

My Anti Conspiracy Thoughts–Too many Conspiracy Theories Go Around

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

In connection with the WTC disaster there are conspiracy theories that have been proposed. Such as that the airliner did not fit the size of the building. A terrorist passport was found in good order, whereas everything else was destroyed. The building simply could not have collapsed because of the crash, despite all the kerosine. And so on and so forth.

There have been many conspiracy theories about all kinds of ‘hidden agenda’s’. King David also had a hidden agenda when he conspired with his army to have Uriah killed, the husband of Bathsheba. We all, in fact, have hidden agenda’s. They are called our sins, not exposed yet by the Holy Spirit to our consciences.

There have been the hidden agenda’s of the Nazis, for example. And history will expose these schemes, whatever they might be. But conspiracy theorists tend to set people on edge and alienate them from their christian calling; even turning some into enemies of whoever. Whereas the bible teaches us in Ephesians chapter six that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the dark demonic powers in the air.

A very elaborate theory is proposed by somebody in the States that all conspiracy theories are smokescreens of the true conspiracy, namely that the Vatican tries to infiltrate the entire world at all levels. Now every church tries to grow and so does the Roman Catholic church. But we cannot know really who the whore of Revelation will be, as she is called by the Lord a mystery. Now the nature of a mystery obviously is that it has not been revealed. But people then will know, just as they will understand the mystery number 666 in those days that are still to come. That is not given to us now and neither is it necessary.

The real conspiracy that is out there is the one by satan himself who with his divide and conquer tactics sets up people against each other. Communists against capitalists, Muslims against Westerners, colored against white and so on. And in this way he succeeds in polarizing us and occupying our hearts with negative feelings and thoughts.

Curiosity killed the cat. We christians need not know the depths of satan. We know that satan is called the god of this age in the bible and that the world lies in the evil one. We need not know how God, Who is infinitely greater than satan, rules through him in this regard and of course also directly in our hearts and through the unfallen angels. We need to gather treasures in heaven and serve, honor and worship our Lord as the supreme treasure of our hearts and we need to love our fellowmen as ourselves. This kind of super occult knowledge would only confuse us and distract us, if not worse.

Magic in the Bible

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Many enemies of Judaism and Christianity refer to the Bible as a book of magic. Consequently, since magic has been considered either as charlatanism or as the work of the “devil”, they dismiss the entire Book. What, then, is the difference between “miracles” performed by magic and those attributed to faith in God? Where do the miracles have their origin? Where does the power for miracles reside? Is it in the soul and spirit of man or in God? Is every man a magician in the making? Through the following quotations from the Bible, which of course are not the only accounts of magic therein, one may discern the truth.

“And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, ‘When Pharaoh says to you, “Prove yourselves by working a miracle”, then you shall say to Aaron, “Take your rod and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent”.’ So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did as the Lord commanded: Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers; and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same by their enchantments. For every man cast down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.” (Ex. 7: 8-12)

This is a demonstration of magic powers before Pharaoh. Moses and Aaron transformed a rod into a serpent. But Pharaoh’s wise men and sorcerers did the same thing! If Moses and Aaron’s magic powers were greater than those of the sorcerers, they should demonstrate it by performing a greater miracle. And so they did. Aaron’s rod (serpent) swallowed up the rods of the sorcerers!

Most Christians believe that in this demonstration of miraculous powers we actually have a contest between God and Satan. I firmly believe that God does not get involved in such shows. It is people’s magic (occult) powers that perform the ‘miracles’. No doubt Moses, who had grown up as a prince in the Egyptian palace, had been initiated into the Egyptian occult arts. This, in edition to his inherent exceptional psychic powers and his faith in God, enabled him to become a great miracle worker, i.e. a great magician.

“So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up - one on one side, one on the other - so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua mowed down Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.” (Ex. 17: 10-13)

By reading this story one wonders why Moses, a mighty man of prayer, did not simply pray to God and ask him to give the Israelites victory over the Amalekites. Why did he have to employ two men in order to continuously hold his hands up? What is in man’s hands that Moses knew and used accordingly? Obviously Moses knew the magic secrets of how he could use his palms’ energy centers as spiritual transmitters, for blessing or cursing. This originally neutral energy could become positive or negative, depending on the desire of the sender. So Moses concentrated his will power and transmitted a great spiritual energy from a distance in favor of the Israelites, who thus won in the battle against the Amalekites.

“Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, ‘We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us’. So Moses prayed for the people. The Lord said to Moses, ‘Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.’ So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.” (Num. 21: 6-9)

Did the Lord ask Moses to make a bronze snake and put it up on a pole? I doubt it. Couldn’t God answer Moses’ prayer and remove the snakes, since the Israelites had repented of their sins? Surely the Almighty could do it, if he wanted, i.e. if by doing so he wouldn’t violate any of His sovereign laws that brought about the snakes in the first place. But apparently God didn’t remove the snakes. So Moses devised a magic shortcut to solve the problem. The next question is why a serpent of all other creatures? If God supposedly cursed the serpent because it deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden, why should Moses choose the same in order to affect healing from the biting of real snakes? Had Moses received some secret knowledge regarding snakes since the time he held the magical rod that became a snake, when he cast it on the ground in front of Pharaoh? Most probably, he had. Besides, serpents were very popular in the myths of most eastern religions and this couldn’t have been incidental.

It is believed that serpents represent the dynamic nature of life. We also know that a stick, with a snake curled around it, is the rod of Asklepios (Aesculapious), the ancient Greek demigod of medicine. Indeed to this day the staff of Asklepios is widely used as symbol of medicine. All this may have something to do with Moses’ bronze snake that put up on a pole. In any case, this is one more occasion where Moses uses magic in order to overcome a problem. I have often wondered if the dispute between the archangel Michael and Satan over the body of Moses when he died (Jude 9) was due to such magical practices by the prophet.

“Then the people of Israel set out, and encamped in the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan at Jericho. (…) And Moab was in great dread of the people (of Israel), because they were many; (…). So Balak the son of Zippor, who was king of the Moabites at that time, sent messengers to Balaam (…), saying, ‘Behold, a people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the earth, and they are dwelling opposite me. Come now, curse the people for me, since they are too mighty for me; perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them from the land; for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed’.” (Num. 22: 1, 3a, 4b, 5, 6)

Balaam was known as having great psychic powers. Balak, the King of the Moabites, had heard of him and he asked him to curse the Israelites, so that he would be able to defeat them. He knew that whomever Balaam blessed would be blessed and whomever he cursed would be cursed. As the story goes, Balaam did not curse the Israelites because he discerned that God had blessed them. People with magic powers, whether they are aware of them or not, have the potential to do good as well as evil. Such people could, in effect, use their powers in white magic or in black magic, for blessing or cursing, for healing or killing. Unless such a person is totally devoted to doing good, a magician is very dangerous to be around to.

We can, of course, be protected from someone’s negative energy by faith in God and in ourselves and by building a strong, virtuous and loving character. Then we are safely shielded and nobody’s curses can harm us.

“You shall not permit a sorceress to live.” (Ex. 22: 18)

This was one of the judgments that Moses had set before the Israelites, in the name of God. According to the scripture (Ex. 21:1), God had commanded him to do so. Women who practiced magic should be exterminated. Moses knew very well that they were very dangerous, if left to practice their black arts among the people. They could harm them spiritually as well as physically.

” You shall not practice augury or witchcraft.” (Lev. 19: 26b)

According to the instructions God gave to Moses, the Israelites should not get entangled in divination or witchcraft, for these were pagan practices and they involved the invocation of evil spirits. That’s why they were an abomination to the Lord. God wanted the children of Israel to be holy (Lev.19: 1-2).

“So Saul died for his unfaithfulness; he was unfaithful to the Lord in that he did not keep the command of the Lord, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance, and did not seek guidance from the Lord. Therefore the Lord slew him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.” (1 Chr. 10: 13-14)

Very often during his kingship, Saul, the first king of Israel, was disobedient and unfaithful to Jehovah’s directions through His prophet Samuel. It is noticeable here that, of all Saul’s sins, only his seeking guidance from a medium is particularly listed. Such was the severity of that sin! So Saul died in his transgression, falling upon his own sword, after being sorely wounded by his enemies, the Philistines. And, as if this humiliation wasn’t enough, the Philistines, when they found Saul’s corpse, cut off his head and stripped off his armor, which afterwards exhibited in the temple of their idols (1 Sam. 31). I am inclined to believe that it was Samuel’s curse that determined the tragic end of Saul.

“Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them.” (Mark 6: 10-11)

This is a magic custom of heathen origin. Shaking one’s dust on someone is a way to bring judgment against him/her. It is surprising that Jesus should give such an instruction to his disciples when, elsewhere, he exhorts them to bless and not curse, since God shines his sun on the just and the unjust.

“But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that sticks to our feet we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near’. I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.” (Luke 10: 10-12)

St. Luke records the same instruction of Jesus (?) in more details, i.e. a manner of curse on those who wouldn’t accept the message of his disciples. No wonder where the Christian Church derived its boldness to bring anathemas and curses against its enemies…

“God did extraordinary miracles through Paul. Handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.” (Acts 19: 11-12)

Here we have an incident of magic that serves as an excuse to Christian idolatry even today. That’s why in the beginning of this article I said that the borderline between magic and unadulterated faith is not always very distinct. We need to ask God for discernment, lest we defile our heart with magic and idolatry.

“But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) withstood them, seeking to turn away the proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, ‘You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind and unable to see the sun for a time.’ Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.” (Acts 13: 8-12)

St. Paul’s miraculous powers were greater than those of Elymas the magician. So, when the latter obstructed Paul in his mission, the Apostle didn’t hesitate to pronounce a curse against him and leave him blind! When Sergius Paulus, the proconsul, saw the ‘miracle’, he believed in Paul’s message…

Are we allowed to curse people even if they are “enemies of all righteousness”? Do we have any right to inflict diseases upon them in order to teach them a lesson? Is this the best way to bring about God’s kingdom on earth? I don’t believe so. Love and mercy are God’s ways. Any other way that harms another human being, temporarily or permanently, has also severe negative consequences on the soul of those who pronounced the judgment. Sooner or later they themselves will be called to pay for it. That’s why I don’t consider the entire Bible as God inspired, neither all the actions of the prophets and apostles recorded there as godly.

What Do You Know About Childhood Depression?

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Depression in Children & Adolescents In America today, the word depression is familiar to most people because of the frequency with which it is seen and experienced among adults; however, in recent it has been widely recognized and accepted that children as well may experience this mood disturbance. It appears that although childhood and adult depression are obviously similar, they are not identical; childhood depression has an entity all its own.

Mood disturbances are normal for children, but when normal patterns of eating, sleeping, working or playing are disrupted by the intensity of mood, it is essential to try to discover and treat the source of the problem. If left unattended, it may become a seed bed for future depressive episodes of even greater intensity.

Depression may strike a young person of any age–infant to adolescent–affecting the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual areas of his life; however, with proper, loving care the problem is usually reversed and restoration to normal childhood behavior occurs with a short period of time.

Do You Know . . . Symptoms of Childhood Depression While there is no universally accepted diagnostic standard for depression in children, several basic symptoms are accepted as identifiable with the problem: - Sad or unhappy appearance - Antisocial behavior - Desires to spend time alone in his room - Lack of interest/ pleasure in normal activities - Lack of energy - Frequent physical complaints - Feelings of being unloved or rejected - Refusal to accept love or comfort - Low self-esteem - Hyperactivity - Aggressive behavior - Sleep or appetite disturbances - Separation anxiety - Severe anxiety - Preoccupation with morbid ideas - Intense negativity - Problems in school - Truancy (in teens) - Self-destructive behavior - Forgetfulness - Difficulty in concentrating - Irritability seems to be the most dominant symptom in children ages five through twelve.

Interestingly, the developmental level of the child seems to have the greatest effect on the way clinical depression manifests itself. Most of these symptoms may be seen in most children at one time or another. When isolated and brief in duration, the symptoms do not signal a serious problem but when a cluster of them exists over a period of four or more weeks, the presence of depression is indicated.

Causes of Depression in Youth This problem may result from several causes. The primary sources are believed to be feelings of being unloved or unwanted, and feelings of loss or of rejection. These may be due to a divorce, separation, death of a loved one or pet, or moving to a new location. Often the child is misperceiving what is happening in his environment. Other common causes include: inability to measure up to parental expectations; grief; emotional, physical or sexual abuse; adjustment disorders; physical or spiritual problems.

Treatment Treatment usually includes working with the parents, and often teachers, as well as the child or adolescent, in an attempt to alter or correct conditions in the home, in the classroom, or the social environment. This will usually alleviate the depression. If not, it is necessary to work with the family physician to investigate the possibility of an underlying biological cause, such as allergies, a chemical imbalance, a thyroid condition or the onset of puberty.

The Afterlife and Scientology

AFTERLIFE: The ‘Bardol Thodol’ and ‘Sidpa Thodol’ of the Tibetan Book of the Dead with a forward by Carl Jung and Lama Anagarika Govinda, by Evans-Wentz is a great insight to the hallucinatory nature of the images we carry forward beyond the grave. These hallucinations (beliefs) go away and the ‘white light’ is all that remains. The ‘white light’ may not be seen by those still attached to this material plane and its’ obsessions or propaganda for quite some period of time. The interstitial states of purgatory and limbo(words with all kinds of fables that are far from true, associated with them) are the realms wherein these devious ‘visions’ play out their energy upon the soul of unenlightened ‘followers’ of many belief systems. That is a simplistic overview, to say the least.

Moody’s work on ‘Life After Death’ documents in real epistemic terms a plethora of cases that boil down to 15 stages that are common and eight of which most people go through. From conversations with people who’ve had heart by-pass or other Near Death Experiences (NDEs) I am sure there is much merit in his work. Elizabeth Kubler-Ross was a great student and scholar from UCLA who I met and heard talk of these things. In the final analysis I find much of the quantum physical world has the best descriptions of what kind of realities other dimensions allow. However, we are all not able to understand that which we are not physically involved with, so allow me to visit with ‘Seth Speaks’ by Jane Roberts as well as L. Ron Hubbard, Jr. for a moment; he says:

“The explanation is sort of long and complicated. The basic rationale is that there are some powers in this universe that are pretty strong. As an example, Hitler was involved in the same black magic and the same occult practices that my father was. {This might explain why the Allies used Hubbard and Crowley, Dion Fortune and Ian Fleming in a counter psychic group.} The identical ones. Which, as I have said, stem clear back to before Egyptian times. It’s a very secret thing. {We covered a lot of it in ‘Science’ from ‘Genesis of the Grail Kings’ and a Christian mystery school called Rosicrucianity.}. Very powerful and very workable and very dangerous. Brainwashing is nothing compared to it. The proper term would be ’soul cracking.’ It’s like cracking open the soul, which then opens various doors to the power that exist,’ the satanic and demonic powers…

{My younger brother is a thirty year member who has signed a billion year soulful contract. He thinks L. Ron Jr. is the antithesis of a ‘realized being’ and all Scientologists HATE him. That is a pretty good recommendation in itself, if you look closely at this organization that uses every hypnotic and other mind-control method available to milk people of everything including their soul. If it isn’t ‘organized crime’ I don’t know what is! Yet, in the scheme of things they tell more truth than most who they imitate - like psychiatry and education. Ritalin is a favourite rallying point of theirs.}

Simply put, it’s like a tunnel or an avenue or a doorway. {Meditation takes one through this to the white light that afterlife portends. In this process the physical individual on the Scientology pathways never gets to the next realm, unless at the OTO [Ordre Templis Orientalis] ‘fin-de-siecle’ suicidal retirement plan, that Hubbard studied in the Crowleyan Thelemic school as noted in many documents - but the Scientologists say he was working as an undercover agent. FOR WHOM?!}. Pulling that power into yourself through another person–and using women {In the Crowleyan adaptation of the Star-Fire Ceremony which uses ‘Scarlet Women’ for the monthly menstruum so full of hormones like melatonin. Hubbard also was a Rosicrucian.}, especially — is incredibly insidious {Even Crowley thought Hubbard was a nut to think he could command the goddess Babalon to do his bidding.}. It makes Dr. Fu Manchu look like a kindergarten student. It is the ultimate vampirism, the ultimate mind-phuck, instead of going for the blood, you’re going for their soul. And you take drugs in order to reach that state {The drug thing is OUT now that L. Ron Sr. was drugged out of his miserable existence.} where you can, quite literally, like a psychic hammer, break their soul, and pull the power through. He designed his Scientology Operating Thetan techniques to do the same thing. But, of course, it takes a couple of hundred hours of auditing and mega-thousands of dollars {Current data suggests the coursework to ‘the Bridge’ runs over $300,000 dollars. My brother gives donations to causes like prison programs and mental health as well. His daughter is a slave at the Clearwater HQ, who works for nothing, etc.} for the privilege of having your head turned into a glass Humpty Dumpty–shattered into a million pieces. It may sound like incredible gibberish, but it made my father a fortune {The Church(?) got $600,000,000 from his estate and it was likely a murder according to some knowledgeable officials.}.” (2)

In Egypt there is a temple with drawings on the walls or plaques that show souls inside tubes. This temple of Bendera is probably an archaeologic proof of what has been going on in most adept religious pursuits for millenia if not eons. Crowley was claimed by Hubbard as ‘his close personal friend’ in the Philadelphia Lectures that psychology thought his ideas were worth considering in the early 50s. Crowley was the self-avowed ‘666′ and he apparently never actually (physically) met Hubbard. Yet Hubbard claims to be a continuance of Crowley just as Crowley claimed the same in the line of Caligostro and Eliphas Levi, among others. The ’soul-grabbing’ possibility is not mere ‘hocus-pocus’; you should be concerned about how your own soul is pre-empted by ‘beliefs’ you have little personal control and knowledge over or about.

In the early 80s around the time this interview with Hubbard Jr. took place, I dated a woman who wanted to marry me. She was from the Anderson family, and her mother was the head of the Masonic women’s league which she called the Emerald Society. She was a down to earth sort of person who seemed OK and knew of my interests in esoteric ‘philosophy. I knew little about the Anderson’s and the Constitutions by that name which are central to the Masonic order (based on recent research, I’ve done.). She falls into the category of those relationships I couldn’t trust the motives of, due to my money; but she doesn’t fall into the category of cultist or fool. In fact my own issues and lack of maturity at handling these insecurities were more of the problem that caused me not to be able to handle what others felt was success.

Her mother was old and suffering from some kind of certain illness. It was a two year period during which she endeavoured to convince my lady’s sister and her own daughter to allow a soul transfer to occur so that her mother would possess the body and control the mind of her daughter. The uses of rituals according to old books in the Masonic/ Rosicrucian theology were involved. Sounds ridiculous, and I only have her word and the word of someone who introduced her to me a year earlier, to confirm it. The Hubbard/ Crowley/Levi/Randolph story is a corollary to it, and there are other similar possessions I’ve helped overcome since. The situation sounds unbelievable when I say; the daughter killed the mother and told the truth. She was charged with murder. The courts let her off with time served, when the trial was through. That was not a long time, because she pled guilty! It is possible this ‘Emerald Society’ was an inner sanctum group aligned with the knowledge of Hermes (previously Thoth’s and Ptah’s knowledge) that existed in ancient Egypt and is reflected in the Emerald Table or Tablet. This is not a reincarnate soulful transition but is a way of avoiding death.

The fear of death has much to do with many afterlife beliefs, and I think the Keltic Creed and its related native beliefs of North America have a healthier attitude about the soul and its immortality. There is no reason to live in fear of death - that leads to a lack of growth (which is LIFE!). There are many books and beliefs that deal with the afterlife and various related theological constructs. SETH SPEAKS was a great book that I learned a great deal from around this time in my life. I was never convinced the premise was true, but the knowledge made sense. Having read some of the author’s other work, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a channeling from another spirit called Seth.

As a literary device to convey the knowledge she imparted, it was effective, and that knowledge still makes a lot of sense to me. It mirrors the eastern or Hindu dimensions and causal planes. The focus on an individual ego having immortal life is perhaps a little stronger than I see it; but I acknowledge I might be wrong. As she put the idea forth it seems there is a multi-dimensional and multiple personality, which might include a million souls in various timeframes and other planetary planes or causal (material) points of reference. Thus our soul will learn in each of these frames of reference and become more complete when in the spiritual dimensions or non-causal frames. The interview with L. Ron Jr. didn’t deal with the soul transference or immortality issue as much as some other cult deprogrammers like Jon Atack and Rick Ross or ex-Scientologist officials who have escaped the clutches of this mind control cult (Jesse Prince, Fishman et al.). In these reports it is clear L. Ron Jr. thinks there is a good chance Crowley continues to be part of the entity or soul that was his father, because he says the date Scientology began is the day Crowley died.

That death was no ordinary event. An autopsy was performed on Crowley before his body was cremated. We must wonder why it was cremated and that Crowley had been an MI-6 operative in British Intelligence. This is especially true because I’ve heard and read that his interior organs were twisted and jumbled with the intestines wrapped around them as if a force had caused a terrible death from inside his own body. There was no exterior reason for this configuration of the organs. It is possible that the body had some issue with the ritualistic action and intent of these two sorcerers who were in league. If Crowley intended to continue his achievement of power (Hubbard assures us he’ll be back or already is, not a very pleasant thought.) in another person he may well have taken the advice or recommendation of Jack Parsons (a chemist on rocket fuel with JPL or other government contractors in Southern California, who headed the OTO Temple in L.A.). Hubbard clearly was a great follower of Crowley from early life and would have done anything to associate with him in this manner.

As I see it the body has a solar self or aura that doesn’t always agree with the brain or ego. The acts of these two, do not speak to soulful attunements. They would not have had the agreement of any soul that was ascended or connected to higher dimensions, so they had to overcome the disagreement of their souls. It would have been a big issue with the body about to lose its’ soul (Crowley). In the case with the mother/daughter it would be easier if the psychics are right about soulful genetic connections in different times and lives. Crowley and the other villains mentioned will appear in the ‘heroes’ section of this encyclopedia and their retinue of deviates will grow or associate with many other heads of the gorgon known as Medusa.

Energy Enhancement and the Zen Story Of Hyakujo, A Zen Story Of The Antahkarana And The Higher Self

The Zen Story Of Hyakujo, A Zen Story Of The Antahkarana And The Higher Self

The Antahkarana is the communication bus, the energy of the Holy Spirit, which connects between heaven through our seven chakras into the center of the Earth.

These three represent the Trinity. The Father, the Earth Mother and the Holy Spirit or Sat Chid Ananda. We ourselves, our seven chakras, represent the Son.

The Antahkarana in terms of the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus is that which communicates between the Sun and the Earth. It has these physical representations from antiquity…

* The Obelisk is the physical, artistic, objective art, representation of the Antahkarana or the tower which connects all the chakras together. The Egyptian Obelisk like Cleopatras Needle in London, from thousands of years of Antiquity.

* The Tower. The Tower struck by Lightning of the Tarot. The Rainbow Bridge which connects all the infinity of chakras from the center of the earth chakra through the seven chakras of the body and up through the infinity of chakras above the head.

* Spire, inspire, aspire - Every brick aspires to become a Cathedral

* The Sufi Inspired Minaret of the Blue Mosque in Turkey even has the representation of the chakras above the head built up the towers. But only three. Now we need to go higher.

* Buddhist Stupa showing the representation of the Jhanas, or Chakras above the head.

* The Native American Indian Totem Pole has many chakras, gods, blockages on the way up the Antahkarana to the Eagle.

In the story below the horse whip is the “finger pointing at the moon” it is the antahkarana. We do not use it because it is higher than the intellect. We are apart from it and yet it is part of ourselves. And when we do not use it or get in its way we are then the witness of its use by our higher selves. Then the flowers shower. The energy of the higher self rains down upon our crown chakras, and we are deafened by the lightning bolt of energy which energizes us from on high. Commentary, Satchidanand.

When Hyakujo first arrived at Chiang-si to pay his respects to Ma Tzu, Ma Tzu inquired, “from where have you come?”

“From the great cloud monastery at Yueh Chou,” answered Hyakujo.

“and what do you hope to gain by coming here?” asked Ma Tzu.

Hyakujo replied, “I have come seeking the Buddha-dharma.”

To this Ma Tzu replied, “instead of looking to the treasure house which is your very own, you have left home and gone wandering far away. What for? I have absolutely nothing here at all. (Nothing, or anatta, nirvana, is the higher self, so really he is saying, “Here I have God!!” commentary Satchidanand) what is this Buddha-dharma that you seek?”

Whereupon Hyakujo prostrated himself and asked, “please tell me to what you alluded when you spoke of a treasure house of my very own.”

Ma Tzu replied, “that which asked the question is your treasure house. It contains absolutely everything you need and lacks nothing at all. It is there for you to use freely, so why this vain search for something outside yourself?”

No sooner were these words spoken than Hyakujo received a great illumination and recognized his own no-mind. Beside himself with joy, he bowed in deep gratitude. (the treasure house is the higher self, the soul, the monad, the logos and higher, commentary by Satchidanand)

Hyakujo spent the next six years in attendance upon Ma Tzu. But as Tao-Chih, his first teacher, was growing old, he wanted to return to look after him.

Before Hyakujo left Ma Tzu, he went to pay his final tribute to him.

Seeing him coming, Ma Tzu raised his horse whisk straight up. Hyakujo asked, “are you in the use of it, or apart from the use?”

Ma Tzu hung the horse whisk on the corner of his chair. After a minute or so, he asked Hyakujo, “hence forward, how do you open those two leaves of your mouth to work for others?”

At this, Hyakujo took the horse whisk and raised it straight up.

Ma Tzu said, “are you in the use of it, or apart from it?”

Hyakujo hung the horse whisk on the corner of the chair.

Just at that moment, a great roar, like hundreds of thunderbolts falling, rained on Hyakujo’s head. Ma Tzu had given a shout which, it is said, deafened Hyakujo for three days.

A Christian Should ……..

A Christian Should……. By Stanley T. Crawford

As Christians we should treat each other according to the guidelines established by God. God has defined guidelines for our behavior with our brothers and sisters in Christ. In addition, God has defined how we should treat the non-Christian. In some cases the guidelines are the same for our behavior towards the Christian and non-Christian. In other cases there are unique behaviors that we should display toward the Christian and the non-Christian. A look at Romans 12:9 - 21 sheds light on this issue. In this passage, Paul defines some of the desired behaviors for Christians in our interactions with Christians and non-Christians.

Paul begins by pointing out that the love that we demonstrate should be real (Romans12:9). Paul proceeds to point out that our focus should be on the good and not evil. When people say terrible things about us we shouldn’t do the same to them. We should instead bless them (Romans 12:14). Implementing this behavior is a challenge in some situations. At times, our emotional state toward our antagonist makes it difficult to bless and not curse. Yet, we must try to remember that God knows best even over our perceptions. (Proverbs 3:5 & 6)

Also, we should show compassion and empathy (Romans 12:15). We should apply this behavior with the Christian and non-Christian. Showing compassion or empathy does not mean that we are to adopt behaviors that aren’t Christ like.

In addition, Paul tells us that we should live peaceably with all men, if possible, and when it is in our power to do so (Romans 12:18). There are times when it is indeed within our power to promote peace. For instance, when we are in a heated discussion our choice of words becomes very important. Our choice of words to convey our message can fall between the range of inflammatory to conciliatory. The Bible provides food for thought in this area. Consider, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1).” So we should ask ourselves, “Are we trying to live peaceably?” There are times when the answer will be “yes” and times when the answer will be “no.”

When others hurt us, we are exhorted not to take revenge. God has reserved revenge for himself (Romans12:19). If you ever sit down and think about this, who can better render justice then an omnipotent being, God. God tells us that, if our enemy has a need that we can meet, then meet that need. In meeting our enemy’s need we “heap coals of fire on his head” (Romans 12:30). These are very powerful words; these words let us know that God will handle things in his time. We have merely to allow God to be God. From this, we can draw the conclusion that God cares for his children.

The Resurrection of Jesus - The Risen Lord Appears

Friday, November 7th, 2008

The fact that Jesus did rise is the realization of all prophecy contained in the Old Testament and the New Testament Doctrine. Christ Appears to HIS Disciples John 19:23. John 20:20 Appearances of Christ, After HIS Resurrection, To the Ten, Thomas was Absent The fact that Jesus did rise is the realization of all prophecy contained in the Old Testament and the New Testament Doctrine. The disciples were selected men, called of Jesus Christ to follow him and do HIS will.

Joesph of Arimathaea, being a close friend of Jesus, in secret, was kind enough to bury the body of HIS Lord, giving him due honor; but upon investigation after three days, the body of the Lord disappeared.

The doctrine of the resurrection is powerful in the souls of the believers. It works changes in the lives of individuals, transforming them with greater visions for life and service.

Let your mind think on April 9, A.D. and the place is Jerusalem now this is to my understanding. I will be sharing from the Gospel of According to St. John.

The Gospel of John was written at Ephesus after St. John’s release from the Isle of Patmos, about A.D. 97. Apostle John whom Jesus loved, from his call till our Lord’s Ascension, was never voluntarily absent from His Master’s side: standing at the cross when all the rest were scattered.

Christ Appears to HIS Disciples (John 19:23)

The resurrection is a fact which Jesus Christ/Yeshua himself establishes here with his presence in the midst of those who, knowing of his death just three days previous, have been praying and mourning because of the extreme wickedness of those who were responsible for his crucifixion. Death had robbed them of their best friend; but the news reached them that the Master had spoken to Mary in the garden near the sepulchre. Mary Magdalene bore word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had conversed with her, giving her words which she bore to them.

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors where shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. (John 20:19 Sacred Seasons, The Sabbatical Seasons, The Lord’s Day Observed From the First By The Christian Church).

While reviewing Luke 24:36 it shared on record the Appearances of Christ After HIS Resurrection, To the Ten and Thomas was Absent.

Then were the disciples glad, for the presence of the Lord brought joy to the seeker’s soul. They rejoiced in the realization of their hope. They saw the Lord, him whom the Prophet Isaiah said was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquites, the chastisement of peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.

And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. (John 20:20 Appearances of Christ, After HIS Resurrection, To the Ten, Thomas was Absent).

Jesus had come to earth to perform a mission. Jesus came freely and willingly, HIS Mission is in accordance with the will of God. The Father has work to be done, a schedule by which it must be done, and he had sent HIS Son to do it.

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. (John 20:21 Apostles Instructions).

The Holy Ghost is a divine preparation whom God gives through HIS Son Jesus Christ, and HE is not only preparation for service, but HE is power.

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: (John 20:22 Holy Spirit Given).

The Apostles were to go forth and enter upon their work with interest of himself. They had the power now, and the time for results is at hand.

Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. (John 20:23 Apostles Remit Sins).

Thomas was also called Didymus was not present at this time. He did not believe when they told him the Master had appeared and then said “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. (John 20:26 Appearances of Christ, After HIS Resurrection, At Other Times, To The Eleven, Sacred Seasons, The Sabbatical Seasons, The Lord’s Day, Observed From the First By The Christian Church).

Thomas loved Jesus and was pleased with the fulfillment of prophecy concerning the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus warns Thomas against faithlessness, and exhorts him to believe and accept the truth by faith rather than by sight.

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. (John 20:27 Appearances of Christ After HIS Resurrection, At Other Times, To the Eleven).

Are there any doubters today? Are there any that are missing blessings of spiritual revelation, because they are expecting and desiring to see something visible, as a symbol of God’s presence, before they accept HIM?

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God, (John 20:28 Christ’s Divinty, HE IS Called God).

Jesus is not impatient with Thomas, nor is HIS wrath kindled against him: he is not pronouncing upon him any form of doom, but simply showing him that there is room for improvement.

Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (John 20:29 FAITH, Is Of Different Degrees).

CHRIST’S MIRACLES & PURPOSES OF MIRACLES ON RECORD:

And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: (John 20:30)

THE PROMISE, ADVANTAGES OF SCRIPTURE, SANCTIFYING, SAVING & PURPOSES OF MIRACLES ON RECORD:

The Promise: Everlasting Life and Heaven Promised.

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (John 20:31)

Thomas was skeptical and Peter was impulsive. They both had to be tested and tried before permanently. Simon Peter and his brother Andrew were fishermen, like James and John, the sons of Zebedee, and it was characteristic of Jesus to make approaches, by the way of natural endeavors.

When Jesus was being tried Peter tried to keep his promise and follow him, but the human part became weak and resulted in his denail, thrice upon accusation by the enemies.

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than thee? He saith unto thim, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. (John 21:15 Apostle Peter And Final Charge to Him).

He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. (John 21:16 Apostle Peter And Final Charge to HIM).

When Peter declared, with an attitude of grief, that he did love the Master and that his denial did not mean permanent separation, Jesus again told him to feed HIS sheep. The work of sharing, praying, praising, teaching, missions, preaching, witnessing the good news is important, and no man putting his hand to the plow should turn back (Luke 9:62).

He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee, Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. (John 21:17 Christ Possess the Attributes of God, IS Omniscient).

Teachers of Biblical Times

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Sometimes Teachers of Biblical Times Had to Learn Things the Hard Way.

Some taught prophetically …

Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof? The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith the Lord, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the Lord. For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.

Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves … wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Some taught legally …

And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water. Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Some were fed spiritual things, but kept it to themselves.

As I live, saith the Lord God, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the Lord …

And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

Some taught others, but didn’t apply it to themselves.

Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself?

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

Thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband … For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Each were destined to fail …

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours.

Each had missed an important ingredient in their teaching …

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed(s) the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Some chose a path of resistance and found success.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Success Guaranteed

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
