The Luxurious Purchasing Habits of this Woman
Friday, August 28th, 2009
We all have our own personal shopping habits. Some might say that I spend too much on my every pair of heels, skirts, or my spa products, but the true connoisseurs of beauty, fashion and makeup know that all the items in my shopping bag are great assets. Here is what makes my luxurious purchasing habits so unique and clever:
I tend stick to the brands that strike a perfect balance between comfortable and chic. They of course tend to be the known brands, but, hey, if it’s good, you can’t argue against that. Some individuals spend a lot of time browsing trying to find the best deals. But think about it. You’re wasting your time looking and looking. Say there is a clothing need: a skirt in this case. Either Spend hour/days searching or just having the wonderful skirt around your hip right now? For most opting for the former, are you really getting the most return for your investment? You focus on price and not value. Even after spending part of your limited life looking for that ’steal’ (har har) you get a mediocre one at best. Chances are high you’ll need to obtain another in a few months.
Anyhoo, I always purchase things that I like, as opposed to what the critics call fashionable or stylish. By buying items that I like and fit me personally, my outfits always match up. My choice in colors, cuts and design means everything blends seamlessly together with flawless perfection. My fragrance is not a fashion statement; it is my personal statement.
After all, what is the use having a stunning wardrobe or shoe collection that you cannot wear whenever you want? A perfect example is Diane von Furstenberg platform shoes that are incredibly stylish yet also comfortable enough to wear all day. For me, functionality will always win over fashion (though having both is the ideal).
I do plenty of shopping online. By choosing virtual stores, I can browse around more often and for much longer. I can also discover new styles that I may otherwise miss out on. For example, I was doing a lil’ shoe shopping online around 3 weeks ago at Jildor looking for comfortable shoes but discovered a nice pair of Birkenstock footwear. (Serendipity, anyone?) Furthermore, shopping online allows me to buy high-quality items and having it shipped to me – and I always sign up to find out about the latest sales via e-mail.
Although I will admit that I like trying things on. Nothing beats that. That’s why you’ll see me in a few selected retails stores downtown.
Luxurious shopping is about buying items that last and that make you feel great. My shoes, my denim and my skincare may look glamorous to some – but those who are in the know understand that they are timeless investments tailored to my lifestyle and me. Who has time for anything else?
